Heading to Georgia in early March to visit my wife’s relatives. She’s from there originally and hasn’t been back to her hometown in ages, really wants to see family. I’ll be kind of bored just hanging out with her relatives the whole time though, especially since I don’t speak the local language. How can an English-speaking person actually entertain themselves there?
What can an English speaker do for entertainment in Georgia?
Tbilisi’s got a pretty active nightlife scene if you’re into that. Cafes and bars in the old town usually have English menus and staff who can communicate. There’s also some decent history museums and old churches worth checking out, most have English guides or audio tours. Download a translation app beforehand, it helps when you’re trying to order food or ask for directions.
Museums and tourist spots are fine during the day, but evenings can get repetitive. Georgia’s got some proper entertainment beyond the usual sightseeing. Gudauri’s a ski resort area about two hours from Tbilisi with actual nightlife. Check out Casino Gudauri https://casinogudauri.ge/ . Full casino setup with table games, slots, poker tournaments. Staff speaks English so you can actually relax without the language barrier being an issue.
