So I’m currently sitting in my car in the JLT parking lot feeling completely stuck because I just finished a late dinner with some friends and when I started the engine, this red brake warning light popped up on the dashboard and the pedal felt unusually spongy when I tested it. I’m supposed to drive all the way back to Abu Dhabi tonight because I have an early morning meeting tomorrow and I really can’t afford to miss it, but there’s no way I’m taking this car on the highway with brakes that feel this off. All the usual garages I know are obviously closed at this hour and I’m kicking myself for not paying attention to the slight squeaking noise I’ve been hearing for the past week. I’ve been calling around to see if anyone operates late but most numbers just go to voicemail with office hours for tomorrow morning. I’m honestly considering just leaving the car here and taking a taxi home, but then I’ll have to figure out how to get it towed and repaired tomorrow which is going to be a whole logistical nightmare. A colleague mentioned there might be some places that offer 24/7 brake pad repair in Dubai, but I’ve never had to use emergency services like that before and I’m not sure if they actually come to you or if you have to get the car to them somehow. Has anyone here ever used a late-night brake service? I’m just trying to understand what my options are at this point because sleeping in my car until morning doesn’t sound appealing at all and I really don’t want to leave my vehicle stranded in a random parking lot overnight either. Any advice from someone who’s been in a similar spot would honestly be a lifesaver right now.
