So I’ve noticed something with my 2017 A4 2.0 TFSI that’s been bothering me for a while, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s a sign of a developing problem or just a quirk of the car. Occasionally, when I shift from park or neutral into reverse, there’s a noticeable delay before the gear engages and the car starts moving. It’s not every time, maybe once every few days, but when it happens it takes about two or three seconds for the reverse gear to actually engage, and sometimes there’s a slight jolt when it finally does. The car drives perfectly fine in forward gears with no issues at all, and once reverse is engaged it works fine too, it’s just that initial engagement that’s sometimes slow. I’ve checked the transmission fluid level and it seems fine, and there are no warning lights on the dash. I’m wondering if this could be a sign of the valve body starting to wear, or maybe the reverse gear clutch pack is getting tired, or could it just be a software glitch that needs a reset.
